Telnet is a network protocol within a group of Internet protocols. The purpose of this protocol is to establish a two-way eight-bit communication channel between two networked computers. It is most commonly used to provide a user of one computer with a command-line session on another computer. The name of the protocol itself comes from the English words "telephone network " . First, how do you know if Telnet is enabled on your computer?
It's simple, run CMD (Start > type in CMD search > Enter). When the black window starts, type: Telnet. In the message you receive, you will know whether you have Telnet enabled or not.
If not, here are instructions on how to turn it on.
Open Control Panel and select "Remove program installation"
Now select "Turn Windows features on or off" on the left
A new window will open where a list of functions should appear. You will have to wait 20-30 seconds for it to load.
Then scroll through the list and find the "Telnet Client" option at the end, uncheck it, and press "OK".
Note: Below is the "Telnet server" option, DO NOT turn it on.
Now you wait a while for the System to save the settings. When it's all over, open CMD again and type in Telnet. If it says "Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Client" then you have done everything successfully.
