Google maps gets new options

Google has launched its Public Alerts platform for Google Maps, which allows users to get improved information about emergencies in their areas.

This could be the key to bad weather, earthquakes, and other emergencies. Created by the Google Crisis Response team, this option allows users to search for simple terms such as floods or similar.

Google uses alerts from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as well as geological surveys to allow users to access constantly updated emergency information.
