Windows has come a long way and undergone many changes since its inception in 1985. Microsoft strives to improve this Operating System as much as possible.
I’ve compiled a list of all the Windows OSs since it was founded and written a couple of interesting facts about each.
1) Windows 1.0 Beta (Not released)
This is the first Microsoft Windows OS that has never been released.
2) Windows 1.0 (November 20, 1985)
The first Windows OS to be released.
3) Windows 2.0 (November 1, 1987)
The first Windows where everything is divided into "windows" that you can move. Clock, date, and games are inserted.
4) Windows 3.0 (May 22, 1990)
The interface is more customizable, insert file manager, control panel, print manager…
4) Windows 3.1 (March 18, 1992)
The first Windows where a sound recorder, drivers, keyboard settings are inserted...
5) Windows NT 3.1 (July 27, 1993)
Ability to monitor Hard Disk resources, memory manager, event overview …
6) Windows NT 3.5 (November 20, 1995)
Internet, mail, CMD, Online book...
7) Microsoft Bob (March 1995)
Most don't even know that Microsoft Bob even existed. It is made as spatial windows, the impression of 3D rooms where shortcuts (icons) are located. Throughout the "interior" of the windows, you are accompanied by a Dog who gives you instructions.
8) Windows Chicago (Not released to the public)
He is also less known in the world because he was never released to the public. Similar to Windows 98, gray bar, gray start menu, paint, games…
9) Windows 95 (August 24, 1995)
Named, of course, after years of publication. Well known to us, if you haven't had a chance to see him live, at least you're in the pictures.
Windows Explorer, right-click, CD player, internet, games...
10) Windows 98 (June 25, 1998)
Another Windows known to us is still used somewhere (eg at my school). Similar to Windows 95.
11) Windows NT 5.0 (not released)
My Computer, Internet Explorer, Win Zip, Program Files...
12) Windows 2000 (February 17, 2000)
Possibility of "hanging" icons on the start bar, introduced virtual keyboard „
13) Windows ME (September 14, 2000)
Windows Media Player...
14) Windows Neptune (not released to the public)
15) Windows Whister (not released to the public)
The look is much more similar to today’s Windows.
16) Windows XP (October 25, 2001)
We finally get to Windows XP. At the time, and until now, leading Windows. It has been completely changed compared to all its predecessors, and its creators did a lot to make it the most functional Windows of that time. His fame, which lasted for a full 10 years, is half fading and falling into the shadow of Windows 7.
17) Windows server 2003 (24 April 2003)
The look returns to that of Windows 95.
18) Windows Longhorn (not released to the public)
It looks most like Vista. A sidebar was inserted but it only took up part of the screen and the windows over/under it could not be dragged.
19) Windows Vista (January 30, 2007)
We all know about this Windows and it was a big disappointment for Microsoft. Some still use it.
20) Windows 7 (October 22, 2009)
So far the best Windows that came out of Microsoft.
21) Windows 8 (October 23, 2012)
Windows 8 is the latest version of Microsoft's operating system and a successor to Windows 7. It went on sale on October 26, 2012. A big change from its predecessor is the home screen, which is designed in the Metro style. There are several editions: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows RT (RunTime). (wiki)
