Google Chrome is four times more effective at blocking malicious sites and malware than it was a year ago, and Firefox 4 was less effective at alerting users to the danger than this browser was a year ago, the company said in a report.

Both, however, have been surpassed by Microsoft Internet Explorer version 9, which still retains its crown, according to NSS Labs, based on research conducted last year and this year, which is based on anti-malware browser technologies. Even with enhanced detection, Chrome blocks 13.2% of harmful links while IE9 does it seven times better.
