A protest against ACTA (trade agreement against counterfeiting) was held today in the Republic Square in Belgrade, which was attended by several thousand people.
The gathering was called "We are 99%", which represents 99% of free people. That 1% represents the system to which ACTA suits, those who are in power and want even more money from ordinary people, it was pointed out at the gathering.
Flyers with explanations of what ACTA is were also distributed at the gathering, and those present were invited to sign a petition against the signing of the controversial agreement.
The signatures will be submitted on Monday, and the Government of Serbia will have until March 10 to declare itself. If they want to break the agreement even then, it has been announced that they will hold a protest in front of the Government.
About 20 young people wearing masks tore a poster that read "ACTA Agreement".
The organizers of the gathering were surprised by the number of people who came and publicly expressed their rebellion against the decision for Serbia to sign the ACTA.
In Belgrade, the protest began at 2 pm and in Novi Sad at 3 pm. The recordings are from Belgrade, and if a reader has photographs from Novi Sad, they can send them.
