Sony Online Entertainment has unveiled PlanetSide 2, a sequel to its massive online game for a large number of PlanetSide players, during a Fan Faire event in Las Vegas.

Creative Director Matt Higby states that this sequel will be unbeatable in terms of scope, as well as that the new game will be created using NVIDIA PhysX special effects software. Higby states that this sequel will be in a way a "remnant" of the original game that follows the futuristic conflict on the Auraxis planet between two different factions: the Terran Republic, the New Conglomerate, and the Vanu Sovereignty. Players will progress through different battles by collecting different weapons and accessories.
