In the middle of the week, Kobo presented plans for an HTML5 e-reading application that circumvents the rules for purchasing applications set by Apple.

It is not a direct replacement, but this application will allow iPad and iPhone users to buy directly through the same interface that they used to read books. In the official report, Kobo makes it clear that he feels that Apple has artificially limited competition and thus jeopardized the e-reading experience. Kobo raised his objections after Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google, and others were forced to make changes three weeks after the deadline set by Apple
