Windows XP and Office 2003 will no longer be supported from April 8, 2014, confirmed by a Microsoft official.
On that day, Microsoft will stop delivering security updates for both products. In this way, XP will become the operating system with the longest period of use. Microsoft has maintained this software for 12 years and five months, that is, two and a half years longer than it usually does.
In this way, XP broke the record previously held by Windows NT, which was 11 years and five months.
Some users plan to use the XP operating system after all support for it ceases, while 16% of organizations say they will have more than 5% of users who will also keep XP as the operating system, according to Michael Silver, a Gartner analyst.
What is not surprising is the fact that Microsoft wants users to switch to Windows 7 operating system.
In an official statement, Microsoft called on all companies that have not yet switched to modern computers to do so immediately because they are at a big loss, as research has shown that business users need 18 to 32 months to switch when it comes to operating systems used in business organizations.
