Here's what a VPN can't protect you from (but you need to use it)

The abbreviation " VPN " has slowly become established among average Internet users, which is certainly good, but the problem is that people have started to see VPN as the ultimate solution to all problems.

IPTV - Basics of Internet Television

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) or better known in our country as "Internet Television" differs from traditional television because the signal to the TV is transmitted via the existing Internet infrastructure instead of the classic radio frequencies, satellite signals, and cable television formats.

The official definition approved by the International Telecommunication Union: "IPTV is defined as a multimedia service, such as television/video/audio/text/graphics/data delivered over an IP network, which provides the required level of service quality and experience, security, reliability, and interactivity. "

IPTV has come to life in our country because Internet providers offer it at relatively low prices, in addition to the existing Internet packages.

IPTV is usually accompanied by accessories that allow the TV to reproduce the image it captures via the Internet. In addition, it allows the conversion of digital to analog signals, e.g. for cathode-ray TVs with 3-pin and SCART inputs.

IPTV cables

When it comes to connectivity, it varies from device to device. You can usually connect the device to the TV via a 3-pin (red, yellow, and white), SCART, and HDMI cable. HDMI doesn't have older TV models, some don't even have a 3-inch, and if it doesn't even have SCART then it's a really old TV.

The wiring diagram comes with the device and can be done by one of the staff in charge. Some are paid and some are not. I set it up myself because it's really simple. Basically, connect the IPTV device to the Internet (LAN cable, or USB port for WiFi receiver - a little more about it later), connect the cables for video and audio signal, power and drive. The first time you run it, you may need to update the software, so wait one eternity and then another eternity until it turns on. It's not always that fast, it is with me.

Usually, this device provided by the ISP has some other options such as a USB port that can be used as an input for additional storage space (USB flash) or as an input for a USB WiFi receiver if you do not have a long enough LAN cable so you can use a WiFi signal that you have in the house.

You can use USB Flash if you want to e.g. watch a movie, play your music, etc. Just copy the desired content to USB and then load it on the device.

If you use WiFi, it is recommended to be close to the signal source so as not to interrupt it, which can be irritating, especially if there is an important scene in a series.

Depending on the device and the ISP, you may have some more software-level options. For example, I have a weather forecast, Youtube, Google (the entire Internet browser, something below IE), radio stations, etc. I even can connect to some local storage space and share files online. Program scheme is implied. There are date, time, program name, "show next" option, reminder, video on demand… etc. Setting the device, password, picture, sound… I also can change users.

The equipment comes with an additional space remote control, which is normal, now you have a mountain of remote controls and it can be really interesting if you need to quickly reduce the TV when an erotic scene starts, right.

I would like to make a few remarks about these remote controls for those who do not really know how to use them with the existing ones.

So, this new remote has its own buttons for adjusting the volume and changing channels, and it also has one from the TV. It is best to reduce the device to 1/2 and then turn up the TV until you reach that level of half the volume that suits you. Then you no longer use the one from the TV to adjust the volume, only this one from the device. Also, you change programs using the new space controller, not the one from the TV. However, don't throw that one on the TV, you will need it.

When it comes to shutting down and turning on, IPTV devices usually go into a kind of sleep mode, which means that they do not turn off completely when you press the red button. This is so that the device will turn on faster next time. Maybe some remote controls have a special sleep button and especially for total shutdown, pay attention to that.

When you want to turn off the TV and go to sleep, it is advisable to turn off the TV with its remote control (I said you will need it), and the IPTV device (sleep mode). Some TVs do not have a special light indicator so you do not know if it is off or not, so it is recommended that you turn off the TV first and then the picture disappears then turn off the IPTV device that has a safe light indicator for sleep mode.

Where to get IPTV? It is really a matter of taste, experience, and price. I've been with Orion since the first day I introduced ADSL internet (only then it was SezamPro so Orion bought them) and I didn't have the slightest problem and I have a lot of discounts so I took them with them. And I'm satisfied, I haven't had a problem with IPTV for half a year now. Then there was the action, so I took 20 Mbps of internet flow and IPTV for 1,700 dinars per month.

Do we need IPTV now in addition to digitization? I leave it to you to answer that question for yourself. As for me, I stay on IPTV.

Google has launched a new Cultural Institute service where you can view some 3-dimensional historical objects on your computer in your favorite web browser. The items are detailed and you can enlarge them to see even the smallest parts. Of course, they are not perfect, there are some irregularities somewhere, but they were not noticed.
