If you have heard of Viber and it offers free messages and calls over the Internet, and you do not know much about new technologies, in this article I will show you how to install Viber on all possible platforms.

As there are more advanced texts on this blog, there are also simpler texts for those who do not understand computers, phones, and new technologies in general. This is one such text and I hope it will help some.

By the way, Viber is used for a free exchange of messages, calls, video calls over the Internet. There are a lot of interesting things such as stickers, smilies, location sharing, pictures, and group correspondence… you can also use Viber to call and exchange SMS messages instead of the default applications in the system. Best of all, it is available for almost all platforms, more precisely it is available for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Thanks to that, you can get in touch with almost anyone you know, because anyone can install this application if they have an internet connection.

You need:

  • The device on which Viber will be installed
  • The number you get/buy from your mobile operator
  • Internet connection
  • 3 minutes

How to install Viber - Android

  1. Open the Play Store on your phone (or this link)
  2. Install the application by clicking on "Install"
  3. Run it after the installation is complete
  4. You will need to enter your phone number
  5. When you receive the confirmation code in the SMS message, enter it in the required field
  6. Choose a name and a picture and you are ready!

How to install Viber - iOS

  1. Open the App Store on your phone (or this link)
  2. Install the application by clicking "Install"
  3. Run it after the installation is complete
  4. You will need to enter your phone number
  5. When you receive the confirmation code in the SMS message, enter it in the required field
  6. Choose a name and a picture and you are ready!

How to Install Viber - Windows

  1. Go to this link
  2. Click on "Get Viber"
  3. When the download is complete, click on the downloaded .EXE file
  4. Installation will start - I agree > Install
  5. They will ask you if you have Viber on your phone - I have
  6. You will need to enter your phone number

  1. Go to this link

  1. Open Terminal (ctrl + alt + t)
  2. Enter these commands one by one: 
    wget http://download.cdn.viber.com/cdn/desktop/Linux/Viber.zip
unzip Viber.zip
cd Viber
~/Viber/Viber.sh
  3. Wait for it to finish
  4. They will ask you if you have Viber on your phone - I have
  5. You will need to enter your phone number
  6. When the SMS with the confirmed code arrives, enter it in the required field
  7. Confirm and you are ready!

.rpm package

  1. Download the .rpm package from the site - link
  2. Open Terminal (ctrl + alt + t)
  3. Go to the folder where the .rpm package was downloaded
  4. Type the following command to install: 
    rpm -ivh viber.rpm
  5. Wait for it to finish
  6. They will ask you if you have Viber on your phone - I have
  7. You will need to enter your phone number
  8. When the SMS with the confirmed code arrives, enter it in the required field
  9. Confirm and you are ready!
