How (and why) to fake an Android location?

How (and why) to fake an Android location?

Did you know that you can fake your location via an Android phone? No, you don't have to be an expert, you don't even need root, one application, and several settings are enough.

First of all, why fake your location?

You certainly have your reasons, and some of them may be, for example, testing your own location-based applications. For example, you can't go to Canada to test how an app behaves there. Or let's say you can hack games that use location. Yes, Pokemon Go can be played this way, but the Pokemon Go app itself has protection, so I don't recommend using this method.

  1. Enable Developer options by going to Phone Setup > About > (Software info) > Build Number. Now quickly tap a few times until a message appears stating that developer options are enabled.
  2. Install the Floater application - link.
  3. Go to phone setup and find "Developer options" at the bottom (the item you enabled in step 1)
  4. Go in and find the "Mock location app" option a little below
  5. Tap it and select Floater from the list.
  6. Launch Floater as a classic app and select a location from the map that appears
  7. Tap the Play button in the lower-left corner

To stop a fake location, pause Floater by tapping the pause button in the lower-left corner. To turn it off, tap the x (x) key in the upper right corner.

When you tap outside the folder window, the window will disappear and a floating icon will appear. When you tap it, the folder returns.

You can also completely disable fake locations by going to Developer options again and selecting "Nothing" for the "Mock location app".

To click on the post or not?

Recently, Facebook has been flooded with " click bait " posts, and sometimes you don't know if there is something really useful behind that post or if it's just collecting clicks. There is a plugin that can partially reveal this to you. Nothing special, it's a Chrome extension called " Photo Zoom ". What does he actually do? Enlarges the image you hover over by loading the source address of the image . How can it help? Clickbait posts often "trick" users into clicking with an image (in addition to terrible headlines). They place those pictures so that only a part of them is visible on the Facebook wall and just enough to interest your potential. If you want to see the whole thing, you have to click on the link, which is their goal.
