The abbreviation " VPN " has slowly become established among average Internet users, which is certainly good, but the problem is that people have started to see VPN as the ultimate solution to all problems.
"How to speed up Android" is one of the common questions I get, and which is asked on the forums. There are various tips and solutions, many of them are repeated, and some are inaccurate.
The Android system is not slow, it slows down due to improper use of the device. For more advanced users, the device is always fast because they know how to maintain and optimize it. Here are some tips for beginners and advanced users.
For beginners
- Delete unnecessary applications - this advice will probably be given to you by everyone, and it is useful, it helps. Delete any apps you don't use, and you know you won't use them. It often happens that you install some by accident, so they slow down your device unnecessarily. To delete applications, do the following: Settings> Applications> Application name> Clear data> Uninstall.
- Remove "killer" applications - I mean "RAM cleaner" and similar applications that "kill" other applications. Why you should avoid them, you can read in THIS post.
- GPU instead of CPU - enable the use of a graphics processor for on-screen display. This will relieve the CPU that can perform other processes. To enable this option, go to Settings> about the device and quickly tap "Version number" 5-6 times. Go back, you'll see the new "Developer Options" option, go in here. Find the "Use GPU" option somewhere at the bottom.
- Duration of animations - it does not actually directly affect the acceleration of the device, but you will work on it faster because the animations will finish faster. Also in the Developer options, find the section with animations and reduce them to 0.5x or turn them off. By default, it should say 1x
- Restart - it is not bad to restart the device from time to time. I personally restart it only when I have to, e.g. when I change the SIM. But if you are an average user, you certainly have a lot of applications, necessary and irrelevant, so it is not bad to turn them off and let them run only the most important thing by restarting the system.
More advanced users (work at your own risk!)
Same as beginners, only:
- Custom ROM - anyone who wants more than their device will install a "cooked" system for many reasons, among other things because there is no "bloatware", it is much easier, there are more options… By inserting Custom ROM, you will feel a significant acceleration of the device. It is recommended to take ROM with Linaro and that is Stable.
- Custom Kernel - mostly goes with ROM. If not, find some of the most popular for your model. This will enable overclock and undervolting (if supported by the kernel) so you can increase CPU clock speed and reduce battery consumption. Carefully inquire about your model which and how to install it.
- Reduce lag - Seeder 2.0 is the most popular "entropy generator" application. This option is also found in the Pimp My Rom app. Enable it and you will notice the difference immediately. The app is not free, but you can find it on Google. Instructions on how to install off-market applications.
- Scheduling and I / O - there are no general settings, they differ from device to device. In most cases, "CFQ" and "On-demand" are used.
- Stop Log - only the name of the application says - stops making Logs. Download it from THIS link.
- Acceleration scripts - I've singled out a few. Find one that matches the version of your system and install it via Custom Recovery - SCRIPTS.
So much for now. I will add some more tips to the article later.
