Last night I installed the CM 10 on the Galaxy S2 and here are the first pictures and impressions.
First of all, if you want to install CM 10 on your S2, follow the detailed instructions on Sasha's blog, which explained it all nicely and posted links to download everything you need http://www.baguje.com/2012/08/kako-da-rutujete-galaxy-s2-i-instalirate-cyanogenmod-10-android-4-1-jellybean-60206.html
After 24 hours of testing the CM 10 on my phone, I can say that it works nicely, but it also has a couple of drawbacks.
Disadvantages:
- There is no Serbian language, which I believe is not a disadvantage because it is not such a popular language in the world, but it is certainly Croatian.
- When the installation is complete, you don't have any file explorer, so you have to install one from Google Play.
- When the screen is off and a message arrives, the screen still remains off. So if your sound is muted, you won't even notice that you've received a message. The solution is the SMS PopUp application.
- In the "Launcher" options, the settings for "Drawer", "Dock", and "icons" do not work (or have not finished yet).
Advantages:
- The phone is automatically Rooted, but I do not recommend doing this if you have a warranty on the phone with the operator,
- Many options and settings,
- The new look of the Status Bar, LockScreen, Dialer, etc.
- Apollo Audio player, DSP equalizer, Terminal emulator…
- New camera application,
- New gallery look,
- New animation (really great effects),
- ROM manager,
- And many more user options for developers.
CyanogenMod is an Open Source of alternative firmware based on the Android operating system for smartphones and tablets. It offers more options and features than the official firmware. These options include Theming, OpenVPN client, changing hardware key functions, CPU clock, and other Root actions. Simply put; CyanogenMod is "freer" than official distributions and therefore offers more options and possibilities.
