Here's what a VPN can't protect you from (but you need to use it)

The abbreviation " VPN " has slowly become established among average Internet users, which is certainly good, but the problem is that people have started to see VPN as the ultimate solution to all problems.

The difference between Sleep, Hibernate and Hybrid sleep options

The difference between Sleep, Hibernate and Hybrid sleep options

What is the difference between regular Sleep mode and Hybrid sleep mode? And what is Hibernate? I will try to explain in the simplest way possible so that everyone understands nicely.

1. Sleep

When you select Sleep mode, all components of the computer except RAM are shut down to store data. So, if you do something on the computer and press Sleep, the computer shuts down and everything you did (left open windows, documents, etc.) is stored in RAM.

  • The advantage of Sleep mode is that the computer wakes up quickly (only a few seconds) and all data is saved.
  • The downside is that if the power goes out, RAM loses power, and thus data is lost. Also, since the RAM gets powered, the laptop's battery is consumed.

2. Hibernate

Hibernate is similar to Sleep, the only difference is that the data in Hibernate mode is stored on the HDD (a separate space is created on the disk the size of RAM where data is transferred) and if the power goes out, the data remains.

  • The advantage is obvious: the data is more secure and the computer consumes 0 electricity. energy. Suitable for laptops.
  • The disadvantage is that the computer needs more time to "wake up".

3. Hybrid sleep

This is perhaps the best option, a combination of Hibernate and Sleep mode. So, the computer goes into Sleep mode, and the data is stored in RAM  but also on the HDD, so there is no danger of losing data in case of power failure. The PC wakes up in a few seconds, except when the RAM loses power.

The Hybrid Sleep option is supported in Windows 7 and later versions of Windows, and you can activate it as follows:

  1. In the control panel, find the "Power Options" option
Path: Hardware and Sound heading > Power Options
  2. From the left choose: Change Plan Settings beneath the selected plan
From the left choose: Change Plan Settings beneath the selected plan
  3. Then on: Change Advanced Power Settings, and a small window will appear
Then on: Change Advanced Power Settings, and a small window will appear
  4. Find the "Sleep" item and click on the plus (+) in front
  5. Now click on Allow Hybrid Sleep and select the "On" option
Now click on Allow Hybrid Sleep and select the "On" option
  6. Save the settings.

How to put the computer in Hybrid Sleep mode?

Just click on the start and there is a small arrow next to the "Shutdown" button, click on it and click "Sleep" in the list of options.

The computer will shut down and all your data will remain in RAM and HDD. To turn on the computer and "wake up" it from Hybrid Sleep mode, just click the button on the case, and in 3 seconds the computer will turn on.

Which option do you use the most: Sleep, Hibernate, Hybrid Sleep, or regular Shutdown? What do you think is better and what is the reason?

SIM card sizes (Mini, Micro, Nano) - explanation

Many users still complain about the size of SIM (subscriber identification module) cards. Which one goes on the phone? Can it be shortened? Can a smaller one into a larger slot? Although we are slowly switching to eSIM (more on this in this article ), we still use classic SIM cards. Newer phones usually require a Nano sizes, but operators issue SIM cards in all sizes. More precisely, now SIM cards are made so that the user can choose the size immediately, and later change it if necessary. More on that at the end of the article.
