New Google Maps option: real-time location sharing

New Google Maps option: real-time location sharing

Real-time location sharing is another novelty of its kind created by Google for its Maps application.

What this option essentially offers is sharing the location with friends in real-time. This means that you can, for a certain period, share your location with all those to whom you have sent a specially created link.

When is this useful? Who knows, it may probably serve well. Just make sure your girlfriend doesn't find out about this option or she'll ask for a link to your location whenever you say you're going out for a drink with friends :)

This option is available in the latest version of the Google Maps mobile app, and is very easy to use:

  1. Open the application and select "Share Location" in the menu on the left
  2. Tap "Get Started"
  3. Choose the duration of the link and the way you will share the link (SMS, BT, Messenger…)
  4. Sharing will start, and everyone who has that link will be able to follow you in real-time

Definitely an interesting option and can be used in certain situations. And if you like to get real-time information, I suggest you read these texts as well:
