Real-time location sharing is another novelty of its kind created by Google for its Maps application.
What this option essentially offers is sharing the location with friends in real-time. This means that you can, for a certain period, share your location with all those to whom you have sent a specially created link.
When is this useful? Who knows, it may probably serve well. Just make sure your girlfriend doesn't find out about this option or she'll ask for a link to your location whenever you say you're going out for a drink with friends :)
This option is available in the latest version of the Google Maps mobile app, and is very easy to use:
- Open the application and select "Share Location" in the menu on the left
- Tap "Get Started"
- Choose the duration of the link and the way you will share the link (SMS, BT, Messenger…)
- Sharing will start, and everyone who has that link will be able to follow you in real-time
Definitely an interesting option and can be used in certain situations. And if you like to get real-time information, I suggest you read these texts as well:
