Sony Xperia Z5 Dual Sim review [video + images]

The Xperia Z5 is another great flagship model from the Z family of devices that Sony launched in September this year, about a month ago.

The case design is great. The side edges are slightly curved to make the phone fit better in the hand, and the back of the device has a fine finish so there are no glare and fingerprints.

Another plus is the input for the charger located on the bottom, and the number of covers on the case has been reduced, so now we have only one cover on the left side, for microSD and nano-SIM cards.

Also, the on/off button of the phone and the screen have been changed, it is now rectangular in shape with curved edges to fit even better into the overall design of the phone. And on the same button, there is a fingerprint scanner, and even though the button is quite thin, the phone perfectly recognizes the fingerprint in an instant.

At the back is a 23MP main camera with a bunch of extra features, and it can take HD shots in 60 and 120 FPS. Of course, HDR, image stabilization, face detection, LED flash and autofocus are present, as well as a BSI sensor that is responsible for making images look even better in low light conditions.

On the front, we also have a secondary 5.1 MPX camera, 2 speakers, and a 5.2-inch FULL HD IPS LCD screen. The screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels gives some 424 PPI which is quite solid. And when we talk about the screen, we are already familiar with Sony's x-reality engine technology, which gives the screen even more realistic colors. And in the screen settings, we can choose the mode that suits us best.

The viewing angle is excellent and the maximum brightness of the screen is enough for comfortable use of the phone even in direct sunlight.

As for the sound, the 2 speakers give a quite satisfactory sound quality and volume, and the advantage is that both are located on the front of the device, which will appeal especially to gamers, but also music lovers.

Like previous models, the Z5 is water and dust resistant at 1.5m depth and up to 30 minutes.

The internal memory is classic 32 GB but can be expanded with a microSD card up to 200 GB. The 3GB RAM is quite enough for every user, as well as the 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. When we have all that in one such device, and a 2900 mAh battery that will power it, we can agree that it will easily meet the requirements of even the most demanding users.

Perhaps the only drawback is that the battery cannot be removed without the assistance of service, but this was also the case with previous models.

Of the additional sensors, this phone has a fingerprint scanner, FM radio with RDS support, GPS with Glonass support, microphone for noise reduction, NFC, TV output, WiFi direct, gyroscope…

And another useful option is the ability to use the screen with any gloves. The option is in the screen settings and works by increasing the sensitivity of the screen, so it registers the touch even before you add it.

And finally, as far as software is concerned, the Xperia Z5 comes with the Android 5.1 version but it definitely gets an upgrade to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The interface itself is not so much changed compared to the original Android, but Sony's design is recognizable, especially if we pay attention to the icons. Of course, the device comes pre-installed with Sony apps such as Lifelog, FM radio, music and video player, music recognition (so-called Track-ID), and the camera app.
