This simple, yet useful, Chrome add-on will make it easier for you to use Youtube while listening to music while doing something else.

Video Controller allows you to control the sound over the Youtube clip even if you are not on the tab where Youtube is located.

So, you played a song on Youtube and watch the news on Facebook. You come across some interesting clip and play it, but you are bothered by the music from Youtube, just click on the purple triangle in the upper right corner of Chrome and turn off the tone or pause the song.

A very useful addition if you work with a lot of tabs and have a hard time navigating them.
