A video has appeared on the Korean Samsung Community site, which clearly shows how Samsung's invisible keyboard called "SelfieType" works.
The video shows SelfieType working on phones, tablets, and flexible devices, in a horizontal and upright position.
You can also easily compose emails, and write notes and messages.
How does SelfieType work?
In collaboration with C-Labs, Samsung has developed technology that will bring users an invisible virtual keyboard, which will only work with a front (selfie) camera and artificial intelligence.
That's right, you read that right, this technology will only require a front camera, which means there will be no need for additional hardware!
The technology that monitors finger movements has been officially confirmed by Samsung, and it remains to be seen how well it will work. However, the promo video shows how this technology works flawlessly.
The only problem here is the lack of feedback when typing, which is very important to many. Also, the user will have to know "blind" typing very well.
But, we must not forget that this option was not created with the idea of replacing classic keyboards, but to make our work easier and relieve us of additional peripherals while we are on the move.
When will this technology be available to us?
Samsung has confirmed that it will present SelfieType at the CES 2020 event to be held from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas.
We can also conclude from the video that this function will reach the users of the flagship device via updates.
In my estimation, this option will be given to all Samsung mobile devices from 2018 and newer.
