Google creates AI tool to recognize plagiarism (video)

Google creates AI tool to recognize plagiarism (video)

Existing plagiarism detection tools work quite well, but Google wouldn't be Google if it didn't invent an alternative that works with artificial intelligence (examples). They even have a separate site just for that.

This time it is a tool that recognizes plagiarism, which is available to educational institutions through the G Suite for Education account and comes as part of the existing CourseKit service.

How does this tool work?

Through this platform, professors/teachers can create assignments for their students and send them. If the task is to write an essay, students will be able to activate the "Originality Report" option while writing and check if any part of the text is plagiarism. Professors can do the same when students return finished works to them. The AI tool checks all available sites on the Internet as well as tens of millions of books to find a piece of text that has been copied.

Since artificial intelligence is behind this process, it will be very easy to recognize if the text has been copied and modified to some extent. Students will be able to check their work with this tool a maximum of three times per document, and after that, they will no longer be able to change it.

How to get tools?

To use this tool, you must register with Google Assignments using your G Suite for Education account. Go to that link and click on "Sign Up for Beta". If you're signed in with your standard Google Account, switch to the Edu account.
