Netflix has been available in Serbia for some time, but what turns many off from this service is the lack of Serbian translations. The closest alternative is Croatian translations, but they are not so common either. Therefore, in this article, I am writing instructions on how to watch Netflix content with any translation!
Before I start, for fans of the series, I suggest this site. It is very good, it has a lot of functions, try it.
Finding a translation
The first step is to find the right translation for Netflix content. You can find translations on one of these sites:
When looking for a translation, make sure that FPS says 24 or 25 or 23,976 (depending on which site prints the values) and that it consists of a single file (CD1).
Of course, you are looking for a translation for the season and the episode you are watching, if it is a series!
Installation of translations
There are several ways to do this, and I will write the three easiest ones.
1. Substital
This is a Chrome add-on that allows you to select a .srt file from your computer and embed it in Netflix, YouTube, Vimeo… You can also search for translations online directly from the add-on for a specific language. When you upload a translation to a Netflix video, you can adjust the letters: color, size, background, delay…
Install the Chrome add-on from the Chrome Web Store - LINK. Then open the video on Netflix and turn off their translation.
Now click on the plug-in icon in the upper right corner of Chrome - the blue letter "S". When it detects a video, click on it. It will appear via the video player of the translation field.
Above you have a field to search for translations online, and below a field to upload translations from your computer. Now just drag the .srt file from your computer to the box below and that's it!
2. Super Netflix
This is another Chrome add-on, but this one offers a bunch of other options. Among these options is adding a translation. The process of adding is a bit longer, but here are some brief instructions.
First, install the Super Netflix plugin - LINK. Now go to SubFlicks and convert the .srt translation to .dfxp that Netflix "understands". Just click on "Choose subtitle file", select the .srt translation from your computer, and download the .dfxp translation.
When you upload a Netflix video, an options bar will appear at the top of the video player. Click on the option labeled "CC". You will now be able to download the .dfxp translation from your computer.
3. Penguin Subtitle Player
I have already written about this program, or more precisely, I have written a complete manual, so if it is easier for you to use it, then take a look at this manual.
Basically, you run a program that shows the translation above the video. The good thing is that you have more control over the translation, but the problem is that it only works on Windows.
Disadvantages
The obvious disadvantages are that these methods do not work if you watch Netflix via a TV/mobile application. However, if you can stream content from your computer to your TV, just choose to stream the entire Chrome card where Netflix is, and here are the solutions.
