Here's what a VPN can't protect you from (but you need to use it)

The abbreviation " VPN " has slowly become established among average Internet users, which is certainly good, but the problem is that people have started to see VPN as the ultimate solution to all problems.

iGO maps Q4 2020 (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro)

Earlier this year, I wrote an article on how to install iGO navigation with maps on an Android phone, and in that article, you could download maps for Serbia, BiH, Croatia, and Montenegro. But, new maps have come out, so I'll leave a link here and explain how to update in iGO navigation.

This article contains TomTom maps from Q4 2020 (fourth quarter of 2020). However, in this article, there are only folders for those who want just that, and the manual contains files + folders + and applications.

IMPORTANT: iGO is no longer such a popular internet navigation app. Now there are much better free alternatives! See the list of applications that have Offline navigation in Serbian and that work on all devices - LINK.

In short:

Maps for iGO navigation, and other navigation in general, are updated quarterly, hence the "Q" in the name. If it says, for example, "Maps Q4 2020", it means that the maps have been updated for the last quarter of 2020. The goal, of course, is to have as up-to-date maps as possible that iGO navigation will use on your phone. And since smartphones have a built-in GPS module, you only need more maps to make navigation work offline, ie. without the internet. Maps are vectors to take up as little memory as possible, but there are also raster maps and they take up more. In this article, or in any other blog, there are no rasters because I personally prefer vector maps. After all, they are cleaner and take up less. The following is an instruction to update the maps in the iGO application.

IGO TomTom map update Q4 2020

If you already have some iGO folders, updating is easy. If you do not have iGO navigation at all, then read THIS article and go back and continue the instructions.

1) Download the content

Download the. ZIP file from the link below and unzip it somewhere. You will see several folders and each has content for one country. Each folder contains folders + POIs (for cars and trucks) as well as licenses.

2) Setup new maps

The iGO content folder is in the phone's internal memory (if not, switch there). You need to connect your computer to your phone to be able to transfer new content and folders. You can connect via USB cable or a program to switch over a local WiFi network (eg AirDroid).

Open the iGO folder via the computer's internal memory and transfer files from the downloaded folder to your folders.

So:

  • .FBL files transfer to "iGO > content > map" folder in the phone
  • .POI files transfer to "iGO > content > poi" folder in the phone
  • transfer everything from the "license" folder to the "iGO > license" folder on the phone

Do not transfer the entire folder from the computer to the folder on the phone, only the files from the folder!

transfer everything from the "license" folder to the "iGO > license" folder on the phone .POI files transfer to "iGO > content > poi" folder in the phone .FBL files transfer to "iGO > content > map" folder in the phone

Now forcibly stop the iGO application and clear the cache: phone settings > applications > iGO

SOPA and PIPA are slowly losing support, the protest yielded results

Controversial U.S. anti-piracy laws, known by the acronyms SOPA and PIPA lost the support of eight members of Congress after major protests by the Internet community. Support was denied, among others, by Marco Rubio of Florida, a rising star of the Republican Party, and his party colleague Roy Blunt of Missouri - who were among the signatories of the bills.

New Google mobile internet saving application - Datally

I wrote an article on how to save internet traffic on an Android device and I suggested the Onavo Extend and Opera Max apps because they were the most popular back then. Meanwhile, Opera Max has been discontinued and Onavo has been completely redesigned and is now a VPN application with the option to save internet traffic. Their compression technology is probably now used by Facebook in its application because they bought Onavo - link . Google has decided to seize the opportunity and "push" with a new application called " Datally ".

Twitter is celebrating its sixth birthday

Exactly six years ago, one of the founders of Twitter posted his first tweet - " just setting up my twttr ". Although the popularity of this service was modest in the first few years, today Twitter has over 500 million users who send tweets, and messages 140 characters long.

How to change IMEI number on Android phone?

IMEI is an abbreviation of "international mobile equipment identity" and each mobile phone should have a unique IMEI number. You cannot change this number with the operator, but you can temporarily change it on your device. It allows the operator to accurately identify your device and thus enable/disable network services. Also, you can use the possibility of changing the IMEI number, at least for a short time, if you know exactly what you want, but I leave those ideas to you because this is an educational article.

Google AI game recognizes and learns what you draw!

Artificial intelligence (AI) is quite popular nowadays and is being used more and more intensively. Google has, I can say, the most developed so far and is available to end-users (at least one part). We had a chance to see how it is integrated into the new Google Assistant that has replaced Google Now.
