Here's what a VPN can't protect you from (but you need to use it)

The abbreviation " VPN " has slowly become established among average Internet users, which is certainly good, but the problem is that people have started to see VPN as the ultimate solution to all problems.

The difference between a Water Resistance and a WaterProof phone

The difference between a Water Resistance and a WaterProof phone

You must have seen the terms Water Resistance and WaterProof in the phone's specifications or advertisements and asked what the difference was. What we know for sure is that such phones are water-resistant. The only question is to what extent.

That "to what extent" is the key to solving the mystery. Namely…

These terms are used for marketing purposes to mislead users. As soon as the user sees "Water" in the specifications, he knows that the phone can get wet and there will be no damage. But!

Water Resistance phones

The phone can "refuse" water, but not in large quantities. For example, it can rain on him and there will be no damage.

The biggest problem is the inputs and outputs that are everywhere on the phone and they must be well protected. The protection used with the "Resistance" phone is not designed for high pressures and therefore it is not advisable to keep the phone in water.

These are usually IP65/66 phones. You can see more details about the IP certificate at the bottom.

WaterProof phones

This is about better protection and the phone can be kept in water at a certain depth for a certain number of seconds/minutes. If it's a WaterProof phone, it can be sprayed with water, the drops can't do much with it, just like with Water Resistance, but you can also submerge it in water. How long and at what depth the phone can be submerged depends on the model, and it must always be written in the specification.

These are IP68, certified models.

WaterProof phones

IP certificate

IP is an abbreviation of "Ingress Protection Rating" and these two letters are accompanied by two numbers, such as IP68. The first number represents the level of resistance to dust and the second to water resistance.

IP levels:

5: the phone is resistant to weaker water jets, e.g. you can let tap water flow over it

6: it can withstand a slightly stronger jet

7: the phone can be submerged in water up to 1m deep for up to 30 minutes

8: the phone can be submerged in water up to 1.5m deep for up to 30 minutes.

Now you know what to look for if you are buying a phone that is water-resistant :)

How does the fingerprint reader in the phone work?

More and more smartphones today have a built-in fingerprint sensor, or "Fingerprint". Whether placed forward, backward, or sideways, the way they function is the same. This article simply explains how this sensor works. The fingerprint works in much the same way as, say, that trackpad on a laptop, or any newer touch screen.
