DVB-T2 receivers have become mandatory in Serbia if you continue to watch TV via the antenna unless your TV does not already have one built-in.
For users of Android phones and tablets, this is good news because they can watch TV without the internet on their Android device with maximum picture quality. But, for something like that, you need a DVB-T2 receiver for the phone, just as there are various ones for the TV.
Here are instructions on how to make sure your device supports a DVB-T2 receiver and how to install everything you need. In the end, there is a video.
Check device compatibility:
-
First, you need to check if your device supports NEON
First of all, NEON is supported by Cortex-A series processors, which include ARMv7-A and ARMv8-A. So, all Cortex-A processors start from Cortex-A5 onwards. Except for the A9 series where NEON is optional so some devices have and some do not. If your device has a minimum Cortex-A5 processor (that’s roughly a minimum of 1GHz dual-core), it certainly supports NEON (except A9, then you need to check).
If you are not sure whether your device has NEON support, or you have an A9 chip, you can check it with certainty as follows:
-
Install a better File Manager on your phone, eg File Manager (by Cheetah Mobile)
-
Now you need to enter the "root" path of the internal memory by tapping on the phone icon next to the box icon in the upper left corner (no root is required for this).
-
When files and folders are listed, tap the magnifying glass to search. Type "cpuinfo" without quotes in the search box.
-
Open the found file, select "text" and from the offered text editors, select the built-in one that offers "File Manager" (yellow icon).
-
You have some information about your phone's processor. Find out where it says NEON. If so, your device SUPPORTS DVB-T2! If it does not say so, you cannot use this receiver.
-
-
Now you need to check if it supports OTG.
Most newer devices, ie devices with Cortex-A5 onwards, mostly have support for OTG (on-the-go). If you don't know if your device supports OTG, you can check it by entering your phone model on the gsmarena.com website and find the word "USB Host" in the specifications. For a faster search, press CTRL + F and type the word USB Host.
If your device supports NEON and OTG, you can watch TV on it using a DVB-T2 receiver!

Now you still need to get a DVB-T2 receiver for Android. You can buy one here: http://www.josipovic.rs/sr-latn/artikli/detalji/1886/horizons-pad-tv-risiver-%28mikro-usb-dvb-t2-risiver-za-mobilne-i- tablets% 29
( PDF manual )
Connect the receiver to an Android device
- First, you need to connect the receiver to the MicroUSB port on the phone. So it's the same port for the USB cable and charger.
-
Then we need an application with which we will watch TV. Install
Pad TV HD
because only with it does the device work properly.
- You need to connect an antenna to the receiver to pick up the signal. The antenna is included in the package and is connected by pressing it a little harder, do not try to screw it.
-
Launch the application, select the country, and press search.
NOTE: it is important that the device, or antenna, is outdoors! This receiver is intended for use outdoors, not in a house, apartment, shop… You have your own TV or IPTV inside and the like. So, go outside and scan the channels.
If you are in a store and you want to try the device, you will not succeed in the shop itself, you have to go outside.
The purpose of the device is to be used outdoors, so it is ideal for e.g. taxi drivers, porters, drivers… for all those who spend more time outdoors.
In the video below, I made instructions for all this, so you can see if it's easier for you.
