If you've ever wanted to see a satellite image of an area on the planet, you've probably opened Google Maps. But did you know that you can look at the history of those paintings and see how an area has changed? Yes, Google offers that option, but you need another tool - Google Earth.
Google Earth is a really powerful tool for a virtual tour of our planet and other planets in the solar system. It offers a wealth of information, including satellite image history.
I recorded the complete video tutorial, so now I will only briefly describe the process:
- Download and install Google Earth for free - link
- Launch Google Earth
- Position yourself above an area whose change you want to see
- Click on "View" and enable the "Historical Imagery" option
- A slider will now appear in the upper left corner of the map
- Drag the slider to the left to see what that area used to look like
It was one method and the other was Google Timelapse. This method is also good, you don't need any program, and you have some interesting areas on offer. However, I chose Google Earth as my primary method because it offers a bunch of other options and information.
- Posetite Google Timelapse – link
- Position yourself above an area whose change you want to see
- Drag the large slider to the left or click "Play" to start the animation
- That's it!
