You may have read these days that Google is testing a new design for Gmail. If you've seen the pictures and liked the new design, here's how you can enable it now.
- Sign in to your Gmail account if you haven't already
- Click on the settings in the upper right corner
- Click "Try the new Gmail"
Really, that's all you need to do. Wait a few seconds and you will see the welcome screen. You also restore the old look, just select "Go back to classic Gmail".
Right at the beginning, you can choose the "view", ie the density of the content display. The Compact display will list smaller items to fit the screen as much as possible (suitable for smaller monitors). The "Comfortable" display will list items on a slightly larger scale (suitable for most monitors). The "default" display is the same as the previous one, only it will add information about attachments such as images and documents (suitable for most monitors).
You'll then see the new Gmail. You can change these settings at any time by clicking on the same settings button.
The new design is a bit cleaner with rounded elements. Perhaps the most interesting novelty is the Sidebar on the right, which is used to store accessories.
Right at the beginning, you will have three add-ons (if you have not already installed some):
- Google Calendar
- Google Keep
- Google Tasks
I believe that you are familiar with the first two additions, and you probably are not familiar with Task. It's a new task service introduced by Google recently. Here you can add tasks very quickly and easily, and there are several options such as lists, sub-tasks, sorting, and date selection. I believe there will be more options over time.
Clicking on the plus (+) below the add-ons opens a window from which you can install more. There are not many of them for now, but there will be more and more of them.
Also, the look of the message page itself has been changed, as well as the fields for entering answers. Now that you open the message, you don't have an answer field, but the "Reply" and "Forward" buttons. If you click on "Reply" you will see a new design of that field which is much nicer than the previous one.
Write in the comment how you like the new design and whether you like it better than the previous one.
