While Apple is struggling to catch up with its rivals in innovation and implement all those, now, old but interesting technologies, Samsung is certainly one step ahead, as always. Namely, so far there have been only speculations about when Samsung will present a flexible phone (because they have already introduced a flexible screen), and now we have this information from the executive director of the mobile sector in that company - DJ Koch.
As I do not like to write an article separately for each guess (because I do not chase clicks and readability at any cost, like many similar domestic portals), I waited for more or less more reliable information.
Koch spoke about Samsung's future plans at a press conference in Korea, which was held during the presentation of the Note 8 device. He noted that either the Galaxy S or Note series will get a flexible model and that this will most likely happen next year.
„We have a plan to adopt a foldable display in our roadmap, we are currently addressing some technological hurdles to commercialize such a device. We will launch a foldable device when we are fully ready, and we are aiming to do so next year.“ – talked Koh.
This information from Koh was enough to confirm all previous speculations and get a more specific date, given that many guessed much earlier dates.
Of course, the flexible screen is not the only obstacle that needs to be overcome when creating such a device, but it is necessary to harmonize the design and certainly other technology inside the phone. They solve just that because they have a functional and high-quality flexible screen.
It remains to be seen which series will get the flexible model, but everyone predicts it will be the Note series. This thinking is also logical since Samsung first implemented almost all the innovations in that series of phones and only then in the Galaxy S (remember the Edge variant of the Note phone). And somehow a flexible phone is more suitable for that series that already has a pen, so then it would be really "Note" (Notebook) devices.
