UPDATE: Exodus has been shut down and the alternative is the "FANTASTIC" add-on! I wrote a detailed installation guide with pictures - INSTRUCTIONS.
Old text:
You may have heard of a program called Kodi, ie. the former XBMC, and thought that with it you could watch movies and series only from your computer. Of course, that is not all that this program can do, on the contrary, there are many options.
In this article, I will show you how to set up Kodi to watch any series and movies online with subtitles with minimal effort around choosing a link and translation - everything works automatically!
If you want to watch home TV channels via Kodi, follow this guide.
This solution consists of three parts: a video plugin, a subtitle plugin, and a setup (connection) to work together automatically.
In short for those who do not know what Kodi is: it is a program available for many operating systems and platforms (such as Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, Raspberry Pi…) and with which you can watch movies, series, pictures, listen to music… create one media center that can be further expanded with a large number of add-ons.
Let's get started!
First, install the latest Kodi (Krypton) on your system as you normally install some software, you can download it for free here - https://kodi.tv/download
Unknown sources
To install add-ons outside the official list, you must enable "Unknown sources":
Launch Kodi and click on the gear above to open the options
System settings
Enable Expert mode
Add-ons and enable „Unknown sources“
When the alert pops up, click "Yes"
Return to the home screen by pressing "Esc" several times.
Video add-on „Exodus“
This plugin offers you a database of all movies and series in one place and automatically checks for correct links and offers you the link with the best shot quality at the top of the list. There are many more options, explore them, you will surely like them. Installing add-ons that are not in the official database is a bit more complicated.
Open the settings again
File Manager
Left-click on "Add Source"
Click "None"
Paste this link in the field that appears: http://repo.hackmykodi.com/
Enter for example Exodus New (or whatever you want)
Check everything and click Ok
Return to the main screen and click on "Add-ons"
In the upper left corner, click on the package installation icon
Click on „Install from zip file“
Choose Exodus New (or whatever you call it)
Choose Exodus
Well, plugin.video.exodus-x.x.x.zip (x.x.x. is the version)
A notification will appear when done
Choose „Install from repository“
Exodus repository
Video add-ons
Select "Exodus" and click "Install"
Ok, now you have installed the Exodus plugin, then install the plugin for translations - it's much easier.
Subtitle add-ons
We will install 4 translation plugins to make the search more successful: podnapisi.net, subscene.com, titlovi.com, and opensubtitles.org. The installation of all four is identical so I will write one tutorial only.
From the Home screen, click Add - ons
Click on the plugin installation icon above
Install from repository
Kodi add-on repository
Select category "Subtitles"
Find titlovi.com
Click "Install" and wait a few seconds
Repeat the procedure for the other three additions
For the plugin podnapisi.net to work, you must log in. Go to the site and create a free account. Then, in Kodi, go to Add-ons > My Add-ons > Subtitle > Podnapisi.net
You will now see the plugin settings icon below - click. You will see fields for entering your username and password - enter the information you have registered on the site.
Additionally: enable the "Send and search movie hashes" option to search for subtitles more accurately and quickly.
Save and return to the home screen.
You must do the same for opensubtitles.org, create an account on the site and enter your username and password in the plugin settings.
Setting up the Exodus plugin and translation
Ok, in the end, it remains to adjust that the translation is automatically loaded with the film, and Serbian / Croatian or some third, not English.
From the Home screen, click Add - ons
My Add-ons
Video Add-ons
Exodus
Click on the "Configure" icon
Select "Subtitles" on the left
Omogućite „Enable subtitles“
Primary language – Serbian (or Croatian)
Secondary language – Croatian (or Serbian)
Save with "Ok"
Return to the home screen and click on the settings above
Select "Language"
On „Subtitles“ choose „Serbian/Croatian…“ for „Preferred subtitle language“
Testing
Finally, at the end and you can try to play a movie or series.
Go to the home screen and click on "Add-ons"
Select "Video Add-ons" and Exodus from the list
Now choose a category: Movies, TV Shows, New movies… I suggest you click on search and then the category you want to search, say TV Shows
TV Shows
Enter a name and type Enter
When the list of results appears, click on the one you need
Now choose the season
Well episode
Wait for all sources to search, then click on some of the list (at the top are those of better quality)
The movie/series will start and you can see at the bottom of the screen that the translation has already been downloaded
THE END! Now you can search for any movie or series, choose good quality, and have an automatically downloaded translation! Enjoy.
Mobile users: the procedure is the same on the phone, the application is the same. So, you can follow this guide only by following the steps in the application on your phone.
