In the last few days, the main news in the Android world is the Stagefright exploit. This flaw allows the attacker to send the infected file via MMS which is automatically downloaded to the victim's phone. This vulnerability affects about 950 million Android devices, ie. all Android versions starting from 2.2 to 5.1.
Of course, Google immediately released the patch and sent it to the manufacturers so that users could update the system as soon as possible.
However, until the patch arrives, there is a simple solution - turn off the automatic download of MMS messages. How?
1. Default messaging applications
All messaging applications that come with your phone have the option of automatically downloading MMS. Depending on the application, you can turn off this option by entering the settings and finding the MMS section. Here you can find an option that allows you to automatically download MMS messages that you will turn off.
Primer za Galaxy S6: Messages -> More -> Settings -> More settings -> Multimedia messages -> Auto retrieve
2. Hangouts
3. Other applications
As with the default, just find the MMS section in the options. If you don't see it, go to "Advanced" options and look there.
4. Disable the "MMSReceiver" service (ROOT)
Install the Disable Service application, open it and find the messaging application, disable the MmsReceiver service
