As Android 4.4 has not officially come out for the Galaxy S2 we have to rely on the famous CyanogenMod - thank you Google for Android OpenSource! I found one ROM based on CM11 that is really stable and incredibly fast. Below I write what a ROM is, its characteristics, and how to install it.
POUND ROM is his name and comes to us from Korea from developer lion0738. It is Korea, but of course, ROM has all the languages, including Serbian. Only during the installation, something is written in their language, but that doesn't matter, English is what we need.
Key features:
- Cyanogenmod 11 (4.4.2 KOT49H)
- Aroma Installer (during installation you can choose what you want to install additionally and whatnot)
- Gapps included (Gapps is already inserted so you don't have to install it separately)
- It is very stable
- STweaks (has a custom Kernel and you can adjust the voltage, CPU, I/O, etc. - for more advanced users)
- AOKP systematic animations (settings > interface > AOKP animations)
- Appbar
- Odexed framework and apps
-
Normal and LINARO version! Linaro is a much faster version and it is
something new you can see how effective Linaro really is on Youtube
- And best of all - everything works!
How to install Pound ROM:
(Classic custom ROM installation method)
Before you start: you must have a ROOT device. This means you lose your warranty if you take your phone with a mobile operator. The disclaimer is at the bottom.
- Download the Pound ROM and insert the .zip file into the phone. Back up your data (phonebook, call history, messages…), your pictures from the camera and everything from the SD card and Internal memory are NOT deleted!
- Install CM 10.2 Kernel via CWM (flash method) - LINK
- Restart the phone. If it doesn't work, just re-enter CWM, you'll definitely have to
- Wipe Data (factory reset), Wipe Cache, Wipe System, Wipe Dalvik cache
- Install Pound ROM with the classic FLASH method: Install zip > path/to/file/cm-11-2013xxxx > Install
- Aroma installer will launch, everything works by touch and you can choose whether you want some applications or not. Next is not written in English but you will know that it is next because of the arrow to the right.
- When it's all over (very quickly), tap "Restart" and wait. The first time it will rise maybe a little longer so don’t panic.
- You have Android KitKat 4.4 on your Galaxy S2! Enjoy.
